The Bayonne Bridge connects Staten Island, New York with Bayonne, New Jersey. It is a Steel arch bridge, the total length is 5780’ and the longest span is 1675’. The total height above Kill Van Kull is 215’ which was opened almost at the same time before the end of inspection. There are 4 lanes along with the pedestrian walkway and it is maintained by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ).  Bayonne Bridge is one of the longest steel arch bridges in the world with a 1675 feet central span.

JPCL Engineering was hired to perform the Biennial Inspection of the Bayonne Bridge for the year 2017 as an Assistant Team Leader.  The work included preparing reports for the Biennial Inspection and Condition survey report as per NYSDOT, NJDOT & PANYNJ standards. Hands-on inspections and assessments were conducted, including sounding concrete to identify voids and potential problems.  This project involved bridge rating in accordance with PANYNJ standards.

The findings including priority repairs were reported with On-Site photos and AutoCAD drawings as per PANYNJ standards were submitted.
