Bridge & Tunnel Inspection

JPCL was contracted as a sub-consultant to conduct condition inspections for the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, a suspension bridge that connects the New York City boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. The bridge, which began construction in 1959, is a remarkable feat of engineering, spanning a total length of 13,700 feet with tower heights of 693 feet. It serves as a critical transportation link, accommodating over 200,000 vehicles daily across its upper and lower levels.

Our team performed comprehensive inspections of the bridge in strict accordance with the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) policies and guidelines. The inspections involved extensive field operations to assess the condition of various bridge components. Following the inspections, JPCL prepared detailed reports documenting the findings and ensuring technical compliance with all applicable standards and specifications.
