Lincoln Tunnel Slope Stabilization, NJ
Scope of Work
Construction Inspections │ Material Testing
The Lincoln Tunnel is an approximately 1.5-mile-long tunnel under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey, to the west with Midtown Manhattan in New York City to the east. The west end of the tunnel exits the ground through a granite rock formation that has been exhibiting the early effects of long-term weathering. To enhance the stability of the rock formation, PANYNJ implemented a stability program that involved the installation of reinforcing steel rebar dowels into the formation and grouting them with high-strength grout.
JPCL provided visual installation inspection of rock dowels, pull test, mud test and grout testing for the retaining wall at west end of the tunnel.
