Project Description:
East Side Access (ESA), at a $11.1 Billion 2021 completion estimate, is the largest transportation infrastructure project currently underway in the United States. The project includes work at multiple locations in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx including 8 miles of tunneling between Manhattan and Queens. Once completed, the project aims to provide a faster and easier commute from Long Island and Queens to the east side of Manhattan via new 8-track terminal and concourse below Grand Central Terminal in New York. According to 2022 forecast, the project will serve and estimated 162,000 customers a day.
With a team of over a dozen engineers and inspectors JPCL performed special inspection and material testing services for soil, concrete, and masonry. In addition, structural stability, seismic, post-installed anchors, steel welding and bolting, non-destructive testing and smoke control inspections were also conducted.
