Design Services During Construction for the Upgrade of 3 NYCDEP Pumping Stations, Staten Island, NY

Scope of Work
Concrete Inspections │ Rebar Destructive Exposure for Inspection │ Photo Documentation

Project Description:

The project consists of improvements to Mersereau Avenue, Mayflower Avenue, and Richmond Avenue Sewer Pumping stations located in Staten Island, New York. The design services include upgrades to system hydraulics, influent structures, structural/architectural, mechanical, and electrical equipment, safety, force mains, utility service, security, and telemetry.

JPCL was retained to provide concrete and rebar inspection services for two of the sewage pumping stations which were exhibiting indications of possible rebar corrosion and deterioration. The work environment was classified as Class1 Division 1 hazardous environment which impacted job site work conditions.

JPCL removed concrete in two 8-inch by 8-inch sections to a depth of up to four inches to expose rebar and inspect it. JPCL provided air quality monitoring personnel and equipment continuously during the work performed.  A work summary report along with photo documentation was also provided for both structures. The project was completed as per NYCDEP standards and regulations within the job site constraints.
